John Cena Belief That WWE Has No Top Star To Replace Him

WWE star John Cena has spent ten years as the face of the company, and his latest comments suggest that he doesn't think he will replace that role.With the recent  one person to see again:




“SmackDown, Raw, NXT, you don't have one person to see. When you go to a show, you'll see eight or nine people. I don't think there has ever been more power under one roof than now. The Attitude Era was a period of universal popularity. The opening game had a direct story line to the main event and everyone in the middle had some kind of narrative. Now, we have a few well-thought-out simple stories, some great stories and lots of games as a result of the action. But I believe that's what the singers did to do something about it. I think there has never been more athletic talent under one roof right now.” JOHN CENA. 

John Cena's statement echoes a similar comment he made during a Q&A meeting at BookwaCon '19 (h / t Pro Wrestling Sheet) where he said he did not believe WWE would have one top star in the coming years:

“ For the longest time, if you watch WWE in a band , there has been one person before the band. I think the dynamic force is changing.I think as the company grows, and grows especially worldwide, you will have WWE's 'Super Friends'. Its like people who are really fighting for an equal share of popularity. I think the band, in fact, will have ten leading singers of all different races, creeds, colors, sexes, and nationalities. ”

Pro Wrestling Sheet noted that Cena said he was "actually the last person to be considered the face of the WWE." The company has deliberately tried to create a "new".

A 2017 analysis by Brandful Thurston's Trunkful showed that the Rocks did not really compare to Cena as an artist, meaningless in putting the art on Reigns' draw and other results as the WWE bookmarks its products to focus on the star team as opposed to the company's sole face. Famous wild stars such as Kofi Kingston and Seth Rollins struggle to draw as world-class athletes, as well as WWE's Key Performance Indicators - which show a significant decline in WWE Network subscribers, TV ratings, live event attendance, etc. The widespread belief that no WWE star is really moving the needle these days. Not Brock Lesnar. Not Ronda Rousey. Not The Undertaker. Even Cena himself.



While Resigns is the closest thing to the 'WWE face' the company has been with Cena, there is usually a rotation of stars coming out of the scene. Over the last few years, a handful of players have worked upstairs as the WWE merchandise retailer. 1, which is the biggest indication of the popularity of a star at a time when neither of them actually sell tickets at the rate. Names such as Rusev and Elias, Becky Lynch, Wyatt and Rocks have all been in the top spot of the WWE franchise sometime lately showing how things have changed since the days when "Stone Cold" Steve Austin sold a whopping million dollar T-shirt -12 in one calendar year.

For better or worse, the WWE, simply, doesn't have that one mega-star, a one-of-a-kind kind of attraction to the same mold of stars like Austin, The Rock, Hulk Hogan and even Cena. That is done with a design to make all the stars in the WWE take full advantage: When one star goes, no matter how big the star,WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash said in 2018 that "nobody cared about these young men," referring specifically to names like Reisss, Seth Rollins and Finn Balor.

It says fans don't care about these stars is an obvious overdose, but that statement is worth considering: Do today's stars have the same way of interacting with WWE fans Hogan, Austin, Rock, etc? One could argue that no current WWE star - whether temporary or full-time - could have a significant impact on the business the way stars like Cena did before them.Not that WWE can't do that, either. It's just that the company just changed its philosophy.

WWE's style and practice, its relentlessness in its newspapers and its repetitive storytelling have limited its ability to create new home stars, a problem that Vince McMahon has made for himself but may not have issues with.

As Cena said, WWE will not be focused on just one word, which means they will not be left unsure what to do again if that star goes away.
