A record 3.3 million Americans filed for unemployment benefits as the coronavirus slams economy

The US unemployment rate has probably risen to 5.5 percent - a rate that 

has not been seen since 2015.

Nearly 3.3 million American records applied for unemployment benefits last week,

 the Department of Labor said on Thursday, as restaurants, hotels, mussels,

gymnasiums and others closed in efforts to reduce the spread of deadly coronavirus.
